Happy Birthday Gage - The Terrific Two's

"Singing Happy Birthday to myself!"

Of the years that I have experienced as a mother I would have to say that so far two has been my favorite age! I love two year olds. I am so excited for Gage to be two. I know, I know, it is supposed to be the dreaded terrible two’s, but honestly two year olds are learning so many new things every day and they are so excited about everything in the world around them. When Carter was two he was a pretty big talker and could tell me exactly what he wanted so I am sure that drastically minimized the tantrums that were thrown - so we will see how it goes with Gage! Gage is talking sooo much more! In the last few weeks his vocabulary has really exploded. I attempted to compile a list of the things that he now says, but then I realized he says pretty much everything that we say, HOWEVER, he says it when he wants to say it, he is absolutely not a performer and never has been. (I guess that means he probably won’t be performing on Broadway!) I remember the first time he said “snow cone.” He really wasn’t talking at all at the time (this was the beginning of last summer so he was only 15 months). He only had a few words in his repertoire. We were by the pool and I was trying to get him to go inside to where my cousin was making snow cones and he really excited and said “Snow Cone” like three times, I had to look over at my cousin to make sure that I wasn’t making it up and she heard it too. Once we got inside I tried to get him to say it for everyone and he looked at me like I was crazy!

His favorite phrase right now is “Stop it Carter!” He says it so often that the other day he didn’t like something that his daddy was doing and he snapped “Stop it Carter!”

Gage was so excited to be the center of attention on his birthday, he relished every moment of the spotlight! He had just watched Carter celebrate his birthday 2 weeks previous and was so excited for it to be his turn! He mimicked everything Carter did on his birthday including not sharing any of his presents with him. His favorite thing to say after opening each present was “Mine!” but quickly learned to chime a thank you and give big hugs! We celebrated his birthday with my family on the big day and a couple days later had a few friends come over to play and had a blast, there were lots of balls, played in the sandbox, popped popcorn and played in the bouce house that we borrowed from my parents. It was fun to watch the kids play side by side as they all did their own thing. It is so much fun to watch and listen to a two year old.

It's my Birthday!!

Yay for Birthdays!!

Dallin keeps asking to go to Gage's party again. I think that means he had a lot of fun! :)
