Salzburg

Getting to Salzburg was the highlight of the trip because I got to see my parents for the first time in nearly 15 months!  It was fabulous!!  It was just the right mix of visiting with my parents, seeing the sights in and around Salzburg and relaxing.  It was nice to stay put in one spot for the rest of our trip with day trips here and there as opposed to the going, going, going we had been doing previously.

Salzburg is amazingly beautiful.  The mountains are spectacular!  We would've loved to have seen more of them but the forecast called for rain most of the time we were there.  We learned to sing and dance in the rain and had a fantastic time regardless.   

Our first morning there we decided to get up early to go for a little walk to watch the sunrise over Salzburg from one of the little hills outside the city.  It was a beautiful walk... with no sunrise.  The sky was full of clouds so the sun didn't ever really "rise."  We walked into downtown Salzburg and enjoyed the quiet and still of the early morning. 

That evening my parents took us to a fabulous restaurant and I had my very favorite German dish ever.  I can't remember what it was called but it was DELICIOUS!  It was so fun to be with them again!

Jared got some type of sausage with saurkraut, it looked good but I'm sure mine was better!

Throughout the course of our trip mom and dad took us to see the sights of the city and the sights from The Sound of Music which was a lot of fun.

Mirabelle Platz was a most impressive garden where we enjoyed a Sunday afternoon stroll in the rain.

This is Jared in his dream car. Okay, not really, that would be a 1961 Corvette. But he sure felt cool driving his BMW, mostly because he didn't have to pay for a BMW and got a free upgrade.

 

And here we are all squished into what mom refers to as her "one bottom" kitchen. I think we maybe could have fit one more bottom in there! It sure is different from what she's used to at home.
