Late Nights and Early Mornings

Saturday we went to Chicago for our stake temple day and decided that while we were there we wanted to do something fun with the kids. After the temple we drove into the crazy busy city with even crazier city traffic and headed down to Navy Pier. The best part was that as soon as we got there and pulled Gage out of the car we realized that on the way there he had totally expolded out of his diaper. Of course we didn't have a change of clothes, nor did we know where to go to get him some new shorts so Jared pulled out the wipes, the water bottle and the hand sanitizer and went to work. We cleaned them up best we could put sopping wet shorts back on our boy, threw him in the stroller and headed into town. I must admit we both avoided holding him all night as the smell seemed to linger with him.

We took the boys to the Chicago Children's Museum which they loved! I love children's museums because they let kids be kids- they can touch whatever they want and run around to their imaginations delight! They loved pretending to be bugs, paleontologists, firefighters, policemen, inventors, you name it, they pretended to be it! Everytime we go to a children's museum I am reminded that I have 3, yes 3 kids... not 2... Actually I lOVe that Jared is a hands on dad and gets in there and plays with his boys! We stayed until they closed then headed out to the mobs and gobs of people at the pier, had some dinner, people watched (one of my favorite pass times) rode the 150 foot ferris wheel while enjoying the Chicago skyline, stayed for the fireworks and then headed home. It made for a long night as we didn't get home til 1am but we probably won't have too many more opportunities to hang out with Jared like this as his schedule will pick up this next month. Of course Gage was still up at 6:00 the next morning... maybe that's why he slept through all of Sacrament Meeting and most of Sunday School today!

That looks like so much fun. You guys sure do some fun educational things. I need to do more things like that with Brody. Many times we've been traveling and Brody wouldn't have diaper issues but throw up issues. We started carrying a throw-up clean-up kit in our car. Towels, water bottle, soap fresh clothes. PS -- I got the table at Big Lots. 20 bucks.

What a fun day! I regret that we never spent a lot of quality time in Chicago while we were there. What did you do with your kids while you were at the temple? Connor is just like Gage, even if you wear him out, he's still up at his normal time in the morning, which is too early!

Lucky for us the young woman and some of their leaders watched kids at the stake center nearby which was sooo nice! I do have 2 cousins in Chicago and one of them lives pretty close to the temple so we'll see if we can't hit them up next time.

Congratulations on the new addition. I am so excited for you. When is comes to memories with Nicole Mangum the bowl runith over. I spelled that wrong. Sleep overs, too many to count, tutoring in Geometry cause our teacher was syco, almost failing chemistry cause that teacher was even more sycho, watching you get married, 4th of July parades,YW's, stake dances, wow I could go on forever. You have always been an amazing girl, young lady, women, wife, mother and friend. I am proud to call you my friend.

looks like your outing was so much fun except for the diaper explosion. Congratulations for baby 3 I voted for a girl. Good luck with everything

Looks like some fun times. Explosions seem to have perfect timing for the worst moments. I have a mustard colored shirt I wear out in public now, assuming that it will camouflage the baby poop that will inevitably end up on me.
