i haven't come to a conclusion yet
but I think he may have been trying to kill himself
we had a gardener friend come over and look at our
massive silver maple tree
it probably hadn't been pruned in 15 years
he took one look at it and referred us to a company called "dangerous tree removal and pruning"
jared laughed
like he's going to pay for that
so, he borrowed some tools from a friend
and went to work
{i couldn't bring myself to take pictures of him with the extension ladder on the roof for fear that i may quite possibly capture him falling to his death}
after spending every evening for a week and half of two Saturdays he was done pruning
two weeks later he was done cleaning up all of the branches
he likes to call himself Master Pruner
i like to call him Stupid
well, we're set on firewood for next winter
thank goodness no one was dismembered during the process... although I did look out the window one evening while cooking dinner to see the neighbor boy holding a large pair of pruning shears right over my baby's head, aaaah! i opened the window and screamed at him. i really don't like to yell, especially at other peoples kids. but seriously!?! apparently he was trying to cut his hair. oh, sure. that makes me feel sooo much better, you're going to attempt cutting my baby's hair with a pair of shears larger than you! and where was jared while this was going on, where else? in a tree.

the picture of him in the tree is crazy...that is just the sort of thing Spencer would do too to save a few (hundred) bucks.
That later sure looks secure up against the other branch. Good thing he isn't teaching any scouts in safety or anything. By the way did I tell you that Brian got his project done. He made an elephant browsing garden. It was amazing how quickly he did it.
Oh my goodness. I'm speechless. We shall have to keep you in our prayers. ;)
Nicole, if you think that's bad ask my dad about the time he tried to lower the antenna from the roof of the house with a rope.
Or the time that Jared fell off Jenny Alder's roof.
That does sound a little crazy!
You're a much kinder woman than I am!! ;)
you are lucky you still have a husband!
That is totally in the Robbins in him!!! They are always doing crazy stuff like that!!! I really miss you guys. Hopefully next time you come and visit I will be able to get to Malad to see you and the boys!!!!
That is what happens when you marry a small town boy.
Wow! Good for Jared pruning that all himself. You have A LOT of wood now! Did you make the shark car our of it? (Those weren't pine trees though, right?) I am glad nothing happened to him...and your kids. My dad was pruning an apple tree a few years ago and fell of the ladder and shattered his ankle. Glad you just have a big pile of wood for remembrance! By the way, Don finished his PhD and I guess they're off to Albuquerque!
wow, he is brave. it took me a while to realize that the whole ladder was in the tree. not on the ground leaning up. it looks. Do you have pictures of the final product too. take care love you all!
HOLY COW!!! Next time please at least tie a rope around your waist and secure it to the tree. You would make a much better looking tree ornament rather than a splat on the ground!
